ROLDA ProLife Shelter-"Hope for the Homeless"

According to a PETA'article ,we managed recently to achieve one of each animal’ lover greatest dream: to have an IDEAL SHELTER!
Our no-kill shelter is a Heaven for lost, injured, abused, or unwanted animals and  no dog from the ROLDA shelter is ever knowingly turned over to a research laboratory, guard dog company, or unqualified or cruel guardian.
Our shelter is the only shelter on an area of few hundreds Km. As you can imagine, daily we try to help teens strays in need: hit by cars, beaten, with broken legs, skin diseases infected injuries,...
We collaborated with a veterinary office, Medviovet, in Galati, and have formed what we believe to be a perfect union of compassionate animal caretakers.

Our furry friends sheltered are:
- Very small puppies dumped in streets, animals with lifetime handicaps, older animals with special health’ problems.(These animals will never be adopted, but we try to ensure them a comfortable life.)
-Very sick street dogs, who need a long treatment and medical observation.
-Dogs in recovery after spray/neuter surgery for eliminating the infection'risk .
ROLDA kennels'block is unique in entire Eastern Europe:built upon british standards,with double insulated walls,plumbing,radiators for
heating,indoor electricity,a ventilation system for dogs in summer,each kennel has one-two dogbeds,blankets/towels,dog toys,bowls for
water and food.
In front of our first block of kennels there is arunning space for dogs to play and do exercises...they don't have to feel they are in prison,they have to enjoi their staying at ROLDA and feel happy!

Shelter'house has a central heating ,a large bathroom to bath doggies,a sunny room where dogs can stay in winter indoor,an office
and a bedroom for ROLDA'visitors,who preffer to spend a night at our shelter  and for our volunteers who will supervise dogs during night.
In front of shelter'house,we created starting with Spring,2004 a "Memorial garden" called Printz,in loving memory of my beautiful
dog who passed away more than two years back(Oct.,20).
In time,I plan to add 4 more block of kennels,to totally shelter at ROLDA 100 doggies and a block for puppies,a small plastic pool,for dogs in summer and this is only the begining....

Moreover, the shelter we run in this moment will be a sanctuary (pro-life) forever! This, in our opinion, is the true respect that should be given to
ALL animals.We'll try to use all resources to offer to our dogs best living conditions and dedicate them all our love and attention!
We daily face many difficulties and problems:
For ex., one "problem" is dogfood: because of high costs of dry dog food in Romania , feeding approximately (sounds better than around) 1,000 from the 2 Galati City Hall pounds, along with hundreds more out of the 14,000 dogs presently living on the streets, is a huge challenge!
We are very sad when we are able to feed only a few hundred dogs, due to our small budget, and witness countless others going hungry.  We would love to,and some day intend to, feed and protect them all.  Each Romanian stray is very special, loving and an incredibly good companion.  Each one is unique and wonderful, and deserves a good decent life.Please know that each Romanian stray must eat same quantity of food as any other dog, must be spoiled with dog toys and treats, biscuits because all our homeless dogs deserve better!
We need more volunteers to help us continue our activity, we need also more resources (veterinary items, financial resources to pay shelter bills,, vets bills, to buy dog food) in order to take care of more of the 10,000 stray dogs in and around Galati, and at least to to assure medical care for those very urgent situations we face daily!
