THE PROBLEM...

During communist period, the main policy all over Romania was the transformation of rural areas with industrial potential in big industrial cities. Private houses were demolished, peoples were forced to move from their own houses with gardens into small block with flats'appartments ,where it’s not enough room for one small family...in that period, when moving-peoples leaved their pets on streets and passing years, it become impossible to control and to stop animals overpopulation, due to lack of peoples’ education and also due to Romanian authorities’ ignorance.

**The "PROBLEM" in Galatzi:
Located on the left bank of the Danube at 150 km from the Black Sea,Galati developed very early as a main commercial centre, the biggest Romanian inland harbor for sea - going ships.
Galati is about 200 km (120 Mi) North-East of the capital Bucharest, on the border with the former USSR (nowadays Ukraine).
The city of Galati is situated not far from the worldwide famous Danube Delta, a unique place in Europe due to its flora and fauna.
With about 400,000 inhabitants, Galati is the 5-th greatest city of Romania. There are two different locations outside Galatzi where local authorities are collecting more and more strays and keep them without fresh water, without food and medical assistance, letting them to die slowly daily, the most painful death!
More than 1,000 poor homeless dogs are waiting hour after hour somebody to come to pet them, to feed them or take them away from that Hell...

THE SOLUTION....

ROLDA was borned in the full conviction that:
1.Animals rights are the same as humans'rights,the ONLY difference is IGNORANCE!
2.Spay/neuter and release or adoption is the humane alternative for mass-killing strays with barbarian methods(poisoning ,shooting, torturing defendless strays)
3.Each permanent(or temporarly) disabled dog/cat has the right to enjoy for the rest of his life a peaceful,confortable living!
4.Euthanasia is not a solution to the overpopulation problem, because as long as humans think they are superiors, this is the main problem! Humans overpopulation is a big problem, too....

ROLDA is a group of animal'lovers from Galatzi preoccupied to improuve living conditions of strays from our town and neighbourn
counties with similar overpopulation problems.
Official number of homeless animals in my town is around 14,000 strays(according to the most recent official statistic) and these poor souls are living in uncertain and miserable conditions.
Since ROLDA started to fight for animals'rights in my country,we lived many tragic moments,when we saw our furry friends dead because
romanian authorities but we also lived few happy moments,that we consider our small victories.
